My Mom’s recipe, even though she’s not Irish!
Prep Time: 10 min.
Bake Time: 20-30 min.
Yield: 1 loaf.

2lb unbleached spelt or Red Fife flour
1 teaspoon unrefined sea salt
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 pint of buttermilk
1 cup Sultana raisins
NOTE: If you cannot get fresh buttermilk you substitute by adding 1 teaspoon lemon juice to 1 pint of fresh whole milk.

1.) Preheat oven to 425 °F.
2.) Prepare a baking sheet by lining with parchment paper.
3.) Mix ingredients into a bowl adding enough buttermilk to soften the dough.
4.) Turn out dough on a lightly floured wooden surface.
5.) Knead lightly and shape into a round loaf.
6.) Place dough onto prepared baking sheet.
7.) Use a serrated knife to make a cross on the top.
8.) Place soda bread in the oven and bake for 20-30 minutes.
9.) Serve warm with organic butter.
